Sasso moved to a harbor with a full view of Lake Michigan in 2012 with her partner, Ben, who worked for a boat engine company at the time. Even though he was an Engineer, his work required him to drive boats in hazardous conditions and perilous situations. Researching maritime culture and safety devices became a subconscious way to rectify the risk, and the lake became a prominent metaphor, both sublime and uncanny.
