Fore & Aft
Solo exhibition installed @ James Watrous Gallery, November 16, 2018-January 27, 2019
In Fore & Aft, I continue to explore the intersection of maritime culture and textiles. Examining the role of fabric at sea both practically and metaphorically. Staysail presents the first evidence of a shipwreck, Y.H.W. displays the resolute bravery of a mother in the face of tragedy, and Daughter’s Ladder is an arduous yet vulnerable net. Collectively, these works explore the intricacy of matrilineal heritage, the complexities of aging, and the contradictory desire to embrace and release simultaneously.
